Sophia Prousalis is an art educator based on the Eastern shore of Virginia and holds an active professional teaching license for K-12 Art. She is a graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University: School of the Arts, where she earned a major in Art Education as well as a minor in Sculpture + Extended Media.

Ms. Prousalis is experienced with teaching art in a general classroom setting, through private mentorship, as well as teaching children with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Her approach to teaching art includes the enrichment of necessary life skills (e.g. observational abilities, motor skills, communication, problem-solving) as well as enhancing core academic subject knowledge through the use of creative visual learning. Ms. Prousalis’ students are able to understand the different functions and benefits of fine art, beyond just self-expression or aesthetic.

At home, Sophia is an artist that creates using multiple forms of media, but most often enjoys working with oil and acrylic paint. In elementary school, she was gifted her first set of canvases and paint during Christmas; in high school, she developed a truly passionate goal to teach and share art with younger lives. She refers to herself as being "an educator before an artist".
